Thayer Hotel
The Thayer Hotel sits on the bank of the Hudson River immediately inside the West Point Thayer Gate at the town of Highland Falls. It is named in honor of Sylvanus Thayer, class of 1808, the "father of the Military Academy in 1926.

Each room is dedicated to an esteemed graduate. Pictures adorn the halls and walls of the rooms that chronicle and highlight their career achievements.
Val's room housed the trophies and pictures of the Cadets of who won Football's Heisman Trophy.

Tom's accessible room honored Gregory D. Gadson, class of 1989, where "Stone" played football all 4 years. Greg served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years as a field artillery officer and is a bilateral above-the-knee amputee. On the night of May 7, 2007, while returning from a memorial service for two soldiers from his brigade, he lost both his legs and severely injured his right arm to a roadside bomb in Baghdad. He became one of the first military personnel to use a next-generation powered prosthetic knee with technology to make it possible for amputees to walk with confidence and with a more natural gait.
